SC Collegium makes recommendations for judges to high courts of Allahabad, Calcutta, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the names of judicial officers as well as advocates for elevations as judges of the Allahabad, Chhattisgarh, Calcutta, and Karnataka high courts.

A total of 11 judicial officers have been recommended for appointment as judges of the Allahabad High Court. They are-

  • Mohd. Aslam,
  • Anil Kumar Gupta,
  • Anil Kumar Ojha,
  • Sadhna Rani (Thakur),
  • Om Prakash Tripathi,
  • Naveen Srivastava,
  • Umesh Chandra Sharma,
  • Syed Aftab Husain Rizvi,
  • Ajai Tyagi,
  • Syed Waiz Mian, and
  • Ajai Kumar Srivastava-I.

The Collegium has also recommdned the appointment of eight judicial officers as judges of the Calcutta High Court. They are-

  • Kesang Doma Bhutia,
  • Rabindranath Samanta,
  • Sugato Majumdar,
  • Ananya Bandyopadhyay,
  • Rai Chattopadhyay,
  •  Bivas Pattanayak,
  • Subhendu Samanta, and
  • Ananda Kumar Mukherjee.

The Collegium which comprises CJI SA Bobde and Justices NV Ramana and RF Nariman has also recommended the names of one advocate and two judicial officers for elevation as Karnataka High Court judges. They are Aditya Sondhi (Advocate) and Rajendra Badamikar and Khazi Jayabunnisa Mohiuddin (judicial officers).

Advocate Narendra Kumar Vyas, and judicial officer Naresh Kumar Chandravanshi have been recommended for appointment as judges of the Chhattisgarh High Court.
