The Central Government Wednesday gave interim charge of Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to a Gujarat cadre officer Praveen Sinha.
Sinha is a 1988 batch IPS officer and presently posted as Additional Director, CBI.

The appointment came to be made after CBI Director Rishi Kumar Shukla, retired today.
Sinha’s appointment has the approval of the Appointment Committee of Cabinet (ACC) which is chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with Home Minister Amit Shah as its member.
Sinha will hold charge of interim Director CBI till the appointment of a new Director CBI, or until further orders, whichever is eariler.
