For all of us who think and question
Who want to know the “how and why”
Does it come as a startling disclosure
That in our pockets we may carry a spy?
Are citizen’s sacred guaranteed rights
Superceded by the rulers right to know?
For their own reputations to stay high
Can they engage others to stoop so low?
Those who have been lulled to sleep
Seldom realise their liberty is at stake.
The ‘Powers That Be’ therefore focus
On those who can get masses awake!
We find conscience keepers inside too
Who do not blindly toe the official line
They have great potential to stir the pot
So tapping their conversations is fine?
The problem with hi-tech is evolution
It keeps on changing even as we speak
Just when experts assure it is foolproof
The system develops an irritating leak!
These leaks spread all over the world
Voices everywhere start asking “Why?”
But finally, nothing much comes out of it
As our Powers, being brazen, simply deny…
